I just seen this blog and I LOVE lime crime. I dont know the whole negative side? Can someone fill me in?

It’s kind of a hard thing to summarize because there have been so many incidents, but some quick points as to why people take issue with Lime Crime:
- People have found hairs and other non-identifiable debris in their products
- Lime Crime steals images from artists and bloggers to promote their images despite being called out on it/sent letters of cease and desist
- Their China Doll palette appropriated Chinese culture and portrayed a heavily stereotyped image of Chinese women - it offended many people and they refused to apologize for it. Xenia also thinks cultural appropriation is in her words “kinda brilliant”. Xenia was given many opportunities to speak directly with people who were willing to educate her on why the campaign was offensive and why cultural appropriation is offensive and she blew them off.
- Lime Crime has actively and continuously censored any critical or questioning comments about their products, to the point they threatened to sue a blogger for posting her opinion.
- Lime Crime knowingly repackaged TKB micas and refused to own up to it, despite the mountain of evidence showing the allegations to be true.
This is just a small piece of what Xenia and Lime Crime have done to customers, former friends, colleagues etc. If you want to know the other side of Lime Crime, my post on the history of Lime Crime and Doe Deere goes more in depth.

Just gotta say MAC LipMix can be used to dupe both Velvetines. They are totally matte, but I find they last alot better and you probably need less.
doedeerelies Said:
Thanks, I’ll add that to the dupe spreadsheet ASAP.

Hey DDL, I was wondering is there any way to get some more information on Lime Crime's recent charity drive? I'm really suspicious, knowing Lime Crime have committed charity fraud in the past, and I would hate to think charity money given by customers in good faith has been pocketed by Doe and Mark.
doedeerelies Said:
The only evidence we have of the donation is their word and the fact that these two charities actually exist, unlike the vague Brooklyn Shelter from the first incident. We still don’t know what percentage from sales was actually donated and there’s no hard evidence of the donation transaction being complete. I want to believe that they are beyond doing something like that again, but seeing their past actions I am also suspicious.

Revlon's Strawberry Suede looks pretty similar to the swatch of Suedeberry, it wasn't a liquid lipstick though...

Not sure about you but LC's glitter helper looks a bit like Too Faced glitter glue.
doedeerelies Said:
It looks near identical packaging-wise to me.

I remember seeing a preview with Mosh for the Velvetines lipstick. Now that the product has launched, it's odd not to see an official promotion pic.
doedeerelies Said:
I think there are more colors coming out from the line, so maybe when it launches in full the campaign will be used?

Going from LC's swatch photo of Suedeberry, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp looks extremely similar. The only difference is Suedeberry looks just a hint more pink. I have the NYX product, and it doesn't bleed and isn't drying at all.
